Virginia lake

So one of the absolute treasures that Wanganuii has is a local lake that is 5 minutes away from downtown, called Victoria Lake. It is actually one of the highest rated things to do on tripadvisor! 

This lake is well established and has three running/ walking paths around it and is beautiful and tree lined and impeccably maintained. It is a Great place for a run as it really quiet and protected from traffic

The other really awesome thing about it is the wildlife! There are hundreds, yes hundreds of ducks, white and black swans, teals (New Zealand duck) swans, 

Pukeko, and Australian Coot.

BUT.... The most terrifying of all of the wildlife is.....

The geese!!

They tend to collect together and will RUN after you once you start to feed them and if you don't feed them fast enough they will stand right next to you and hiss, yes HISS at you

We have decided to call these birds the WGM... Wanganuii Goose Mafia. 

But otherwise it is awesome to walk and run and feed the ducks and swans and other wildlife! 

They tend to know when you show up with bread and can gather toward you! 

 And once you walk away a few of the ducks will always waddle behind you!
